Livingston FC halted their recent slide with a convincing 4-1 victory over Greenock Morton at Cappielow Park on Friday night. The win ended a two-game losing run in the Scottish Championship and moved the Lions up to fourth place with nine points from six matches.
Liam Polworth opened the scoring for Livingston in the 35th minute, finishing a move that cut through the Morton defence. Robbie Muirhead doubled the advantage just before the interval, converting from close range after a cross from Teteh Sinclair.
Michael O’Halloran gave the hosts a lifeline nine minutes after the restart, pulling a goal back for Morton. Livingston regained control in the final quarter of an hour, with Emmanuel Danso restoring the two-goal cushion in the 77th minute. Jordan Doherty added a fourth in the 88th minute to seal the comprehensive victory.
The result leaves Morton rooted to the bottom of the Championship standings. For Livingston, the three points provide a vital boost after consecutive defeats to Stenhousemuir and Arbroath. Their recent form now reads two wins and three losses from their last five outings.
Livingston have scored eight goals and conceded five so far this season, giving them a positive goal difference of three. They sit four points behind league leaders Raith Rovers. The club's full list of fixtures shows a home match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle is next on the schedule for September 19th. Inverness currently occupy seventh place in the table.
The team will look to build on this result when they return to action at the Tony Macaroni Arena next week.
